Editorial Policy & Methodology

This page states how Optical Software decides what to cover, how we verify what we publish, and how we handle disclosure and independence. It is the standard every review and guide on this site is held to.

What we cover, and why

We write about software for optometry practices, optical retail and eye care clinics: EHR and practice management systems, billing and revenue-cycle tools, imaging and diagnostic software, contact lens fitting technology, and related workflow and compliance topics. Topics are chosen because a practice owner or manager is actually searching for the decision, not to fill a content calendar.

How we verify what we publish

• Every price, feature, limitation and regulatory claim traces to a source we checked - a vendor page, official documentation, a government or standards body, or our own use of the product. Sources are linked on first use.
• Where a fact cannot be verified, we say so, or we leave it out. We do not round a guess into a fact, and we do not invent a statistic to make a section feel more complete.
• We do not publish fabricated ratings, testimonials or "users report" phrasing. Where we score a product ourselves, that score is labeled as our own editorial judgment, not an aggregated user rating.

Independence and disclosure

We do not accept payment to place, rank or improve the rating of any product we review. Where a link is sponsored, or we have a business relationship with a vendor named in an article, that relationship is disclosed on the specific article where it is relevant, rather than assumed from this page. A product is never scored on different criteria than its competitors in the same comparison.

Freshness and corrections

Every published article carries a verification date and a scheduled review date, typically six months out, or sooner for anything tied to a specific year. A review means checking the content again, not just changing a date in the title. If a fact turns out to be wrong, the fix is a correction to the article, not a defense of the original claim, and we do not quietly remove a correction once it is made.

What we do not do

• We do not accept payment to place, rank or improve the rating of a product.
• We do not use hidden text, cloaked pages, or content written to rank without answering the reader's actual question.
• Where a link is sponsored, it is labeled as sponsored; every other outbound link to a vendor is an ordinary editorial reference to their real site.
